Ok after really getting no feedback on Xanga, I've decied to move my blog to Gametrailers and MySpace. Though I've yet to become a big player at either or, with my blog being about gaming, I'm hoping to drum up a fan base at GameTrailers. Here a link to both:
It seems that there need to be a change in blogging, so instead of me (something that barly nobody cares about) , I'm going talk about gaming or whatever else my ADHD riddled mind comes with (hopefully something that people will actally care about, in this gaming). THE DEATH OF SPLIT-SCREEN!
Back in the 90's, a game console out of Nintendo came out called the Nintendo 64, and it was one of the 1st consoles to feature 4-muliplayer ports out of the box (you used have to buy a multi-tap for 4-player games) . And one of the great games this system offered was GoldenEye and its greatly superior spiritual successor Perfect Dark, (both drove home the point that asking for a Sega Saturn was REALLY BAD IDEA!) Anyways, the best thing theses 2 shooters did was bring Split-Screen 4-player action, 4 player on one console at the same time, something that wasn't happening on PC (though that LAN/INTERNET way of playing wasn't too shabby). This idea stayed present for years and consoles to come. UNTIL NOW!
Christmas of 2006 pasted and both Sony's and Mircosofts's new concole, Playstation 3 and X-Box 360 where both both simaltanelouly ready for the consumer market. Playstation 3 had Resistance: Fall of Men and the X-Box 360 had Gears of Wars. Both got excellent ratings from game reviews (Average for Resitance 8.8 and Gears 9.2 according to GameStats) but I noticed one thing these 2 games where missing, that great 4-player split-screen action of old., BUT, To there credit, they did offer 2-player split-screen and awesome a great online play (X-BOX LIVE Support which set the standards for online multiplayer and 40 Players via Playstation Network (PSN) ) , so wasn't as if the game didn't have any multiplier. The issue I have is past 2 people, how else would any one else enjoy the game without bringing there consoles with, espically when they don't have one. This is the price games pay to remain pretty, sometimes things like local - multiplayer had to be left behind in favor of online or LAN based multiplayer (everybody has there own console) but that don't mean there won't be any local-multiplayer, here what the scene for the future looks like so far: Classic-Coin Up What better way to use your $400-600 game consoles then for games made back in the 80's and 90's? This is where the idea of mirco-transactions come in, instead of buying whole collections of games for $20/30, buy only the game you want and love at $5-8. Though the flaw in this is the fact that buying whole collectons is at times cheaper (espically when you like multiple game on the collection) and seems the extra price goes into online leader board (which are nicer depending on the game) and achivements (X-BOX 360). Though the obvious way to remedy this by making games that haven't been made ready to play in there original arcade status. My main candidates would be Tutrles in Time & Sunset Riders , but to TutInTime credit, it's a unlockable in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Mutant Nightmare for PS2, X-Box and GameCube but why you want to buy a full-length game that was "Meh"-ish just to unlock a great arcade title is beyond me.
Action RPG While were on the subject, let me do a simulation of the brainstorming of the developer of X-Men Legend/ Marvel Alliance:Developer #1: Hey you know that X-Men arcade game, wouldn't be sweet if we could make a sequel to that!Developer #2: Yeah, that would be cool but Konami owns the rights, we can't touch it if we tried. Surly there someway around that.Developer #1: I KNOW! Let's create a new-game, only let's make a action-RPG but give the player more control by letting them change the costumes of their X-MEN and also let them switch out what X-Men they play as from time to time. And thus was borned, X-MEN Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. A game that had a distinct "you got your RPG into my beat-em up" feel and was absolute fun (or chaos, depending on the situation ) to play with 4-players. The only issue was that of having all those selectable characters lead to people to play musicial character selections, which leads to some underpowered characters (remember it's still a RPG, so a underused character don't gain experience and when you have serveral characters like this, you have major problems). Lucky through you can take characters to the Danger Room so they can level up there but Marvel Alliance had a more subtle way of dealing with this. Alliance just made it that the character you weren't using leveled up as well, just at maybe one level behind, making choosing different characters to change it up a joy, not chore. Though hopes for a sequel look dim due to the rights of certain heros being sold to other developers, but that don't mean they might not try to go with the ones they have left. Let's hope they don't try to run with a team of super heros from the C-List. Sports This and last one might be the biggest ones as it seems that the reason consoles get all those extra ports is to play these games. What more could be better then playing NBA 2K7 and actually be able to have 5 real players vs 5 other real players, it likes actually getting together and play a game full-court, only with more talent and less work. This is feature I would like to see more of in other series, espically in more arcade oriented sports-games like NBA Baller Phenom which helped with its bringing back of 2 vs 2 play (something that might have not been so hard to do since it came from the makers of NBA JAM). Fighting This final one, will probally be a part of the new-life of multiplayer. And to play my respects, I'll have to mention the king of this genre to Super Smash Bros. Melee. A concept that sounded great on paper and even better on paper, Nintendo characters beating the crap out of each other at the same time, pure brillulance. In also paying respect, you must all recognize Power Stone 2, one of the best Dreamcast games that came out and a game that does what a sequel is supposed to do, IMPROVE UPON THE 1st one by giving it 4-player action (though I will say, both game are good on there own merits). But for those who don't cuteness in there games, there always wrestling games (which depends whether you want to put wrestling in sports or fighting, you make make the call). To best example of this would be WW"F" No Mercy and Smackdown vs Raw 06-07. What makes these game great was the fact you could put WWE (F) titles up for grabs in a match, giving someone win the match more then bragging rights. This is espically special in SvR as you come to friends house joe smoe and leave the "WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION". The fact that you win somebody elses created title just only made it better. IN CONCLUSION
Is Split-Screen dead? Yes and No. No, as some games will still offer 2-Player spilt-screen and prohaps the Wii "may" on the basis there building games on that are less likely technology heavy games as games on more of style of PS2/X-BOX games but the "No" will be for everybody else due to fact that everybody wants to go online and see if they can beat other people in the world, not just your group of friends. But in replacement for this, we can expect other mulitiplayer options, they may range from oversights or purely made for multplayer fun. As far as I'm concerned, as long as multiplayer don't become nonexistent, its all good to me.
I finally I'm able to take to time to post a blog. Some people make it their new life obsession (some should cause they their really good at it and some just use it to shoot off, hey why not) but me I just post when I can to let people know I haven't abandoned it and let people know I'm alive.
(This part is officially being omitted, I'm tried of talking about it, and it being up here leaves it still lingering. Thank Latham!)
I finally got my 2 jobs lined up. The 1st job was my federal work study job. At first, I was waiting for my job at UPS (never heard anything from them) but with each passing month becoming more then evident I need money, I decide to stress every job source out their . Anyway I apply for ajob (I sent a email to my now boss, and less then a month letter he contacted me back) at the libary and I got in their, 10 hours at 5.70, it wasn't rich money, but it was some money. Then my main job at FedEx. I talked to a friend who said they knew a guy who works for FedEx and may be able to get us a job. Unfortunately the 1st locations wasn't hiring but when I checked Fastweb.com (yes the site you can use to find scholarships), we were able to find another FedEx. My one friend got in 1st , and me and everybody else got in 3 or 4 weeks latter (I was alittle bit peeved as I found the new FedEx but hey we all got the job so I can't complain).
I got done with this 1st semester back at school. It was like I hadn't even left. 2 B's (FIN 205, which I was sure I was going to get a C out it and SOC 205) and 1 C (PHL 200, the one I thought I could have gotten a B) for a 2.6. This is a good start but already I got a naggin feeling I better get better grades as the classes I be taking in the furture will be very dependent on my ability to do my job (do you want your brain surgeon to get C's or A's in their major classes?).
I've been having some 2nd thoughts about my major, I do know one thing, I run the tables, I'll have job security and everything I want out of working a full time job. The problem is I want to get to get into Game Development. Theirs thousands of game developers, and thousands of ways they got in to business. The problem that "may" be is that the wrong major will make it that no one will take me serious in trying to get into the business.
And finally in the issue that is game consoles (not really a issue) , the next-generation console for me will still be the Sony product, that being Playstation 3. In away PS3 had the inside track on this one, being the case of already owning a PS2 and wanting to get a PSP. Now I know it looks expensive, with the Wii and X-Box 360 priced at $250 and $400, they don't offer all I can get for the PS3 price line, I just gotta go with what feels right. Also with the PS3 offering the ability to a OS, that espically in Linux (what better way to familiarize my self with the OS then working with it on my game console) and I'm sold. Not to mention theirs so many games out their that I've been looking at (UNREAL TOURNEY 2K7,Heavenly Sword, Teaken 6) this looks like the console for me. Now how I'll be paying for it, I'll let you know.
That's it for now, be safe during this "Christmas" season and be happy. I know I'll be trying to do the same. God Bless and I'll see you around.

At the end of last week, I finally achieved something that I thought would take forever or would never happen, I finally got a full scdeulAe of classes. 13 hours to exact, meaning I was "BACK IN SCHOOL". Man has yet to create a powerful enough word to express the joy I feel to be back and thankfulness toward God for the ability to be back. Though the road will still be rough, I'm at least glad to be on the road.
Anyway, coming back to Wright State was bit easier then I thought. Their was no culture shock, the game hadn't changed so much that I couldn't keep up, it was almost like I never left, which is cool. Though the game has changed a little bit, since I'm a comunter student, so I got to take more time to get to classes and if you don't to get to campus by 10:00 am, I might as well go straight to lot 20, the remote lot where you have to take shuttle in, so I best learn to get on campus in a timely fashion.
The apartment that I got is cool, a nice villa as they call , 1 bedroom place where nobody on top or the bottom, but since I'll be paying everything out of my own pocket, it bit more complicated. So far I got rent, cellar, land line, gas for the car, internet, and electric. Also since this antenna thing isn't actually working out, I plan on having the satellite service moved up here, since it's in my name and my mother can service through her phone company. By the way, Time Warner is a punk, if you don't get their bundle in which they say everything is $40 each, they want to charge you extra for inferior service, why should I pay them $47 when I can get satellite for cheaper and get way more for my money. Though the problem that most people would see for me is "Byron, how you going to finance all this stuff?" Well I know God will find away for me on the neccesity things (Gas, electric, rent, etc.) and not that I'm questioning the divinity of him, but I might be on my own for the other things, but just like this school, I'll do whatever it takes to make it happen. Though I will let you know this, I'll be paying my most important bills first, so don't come think I'll have cable and not have gas for my car or a phone.
Also I'm looking to get more finicial aid for school, as it lay, their giving me enough for all 3 quarters, but since I've missed in my opinion a year and quarter, I need to go to summer school to catch, and I need someone who isn't me to finance it.
Anyways that a bout it, luckily for me, I got more classes to prepare for then I can say grace over, through this may be bit comlicated by the job I so desperately need and fell behind in looking for due to waiting for this finicial aid thing to be worked out, but I'm checking more into UPS. I'm going to get a bit more aggressive with it as thats what I've had to do one time, and it worked wonders. So keep me in your thoughts and prayer, and I'll do the same for you.
I've known I haven't blog as much as I've should have and could, and it really isn't due to the fact that I've haven't had the free time. I really don't want to be the kind of person who starts something and doen't keep up with it or completely abandons it, so here I'm.
My school situation hasn't gotten much better but I'm determine to make some sort movement on it by the Fall of 06, and here's my choices:
1.(most desirable) I find some sort of away to pay to $5k plus bill ( though my latest and maybe "last idea", essay scholarship ) though I've tried this idea before, I guess I owe it to my self to try.
2.Go to either Tri-C (Cuyahoga Community College) or Cleveland State, get my assoiciate degree and then transfer to another university. Doing this while hoping that WSU doesn't ask for their $5K for 4-6 years, so much for wishful thinking.
3.This too is a possibility, though links of my mother being alumni, get into Alabama A&M, and hope that the same as above happens.
I have a couple more ideas but the 1st one is the most reasonable due to the fact that I can't run away from the WSU bill and I since I've started it and wanted, I better find away to pay.
In other news, work I belive could be going better, at one point I' was making $750 every 2 weeks, to now making barely $580 every 2 weeks (this is a unoffical stat line due to reason that that I've yet to see my paycheck with just my 40 hours), this is due to the fact that I've been both told to stop doing over time in which I used to do 20 over 2 weeks and I've been moved to 1st in which I've lost my shift premium, though some might say why gripe about $8.80 compared to $8, to me its a major pay cut and I'm more then willing to do the work for the extra money but I'm pretty much stuck cause I'm a temp. (tempoary worker) and due to fact I have no desire to get hired in ( working for the company not the tempoary agency) due to fact that I want to get my education-carear, not just a job.
As of right now, I fell that I'm really behind, but as the video clip shows, you can always comes from behind
but when I do make my comeback, try not to be obvilous like some of the people in the back ground. Peace!
